"Join us for a day of celebrating the beauty and importance of birds! This event, hosted by Kzoo Parks and the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo, offers something for everyone—from nature lovers to bird enthusiasts. The theme for this year's World Migratory Bird Day is Shared Spaces: Creating Bird Friendly Cities and Communities.

Bird Walks

Audubon Kzoo will lead two informative bird walks, offering attendees the opportunity to learn about local bird species and the incredible migratory patterns that shape their journeys. The first bird walk begins at 11 a.m., and the second walk starts at 1 p.m. Bring your binoculars if you have them and your enthusiasm for bird watching! Extra binoculars will also be available to use.

 

Arts & Crafts

Looking for a unique gift or piece of art? Nature-themed artwork will be available for sale from talented local artists.

There will also be crafts and hands-on activities, including a fun “Create Your Own Bird Feeder” activity! This is a great opportunity to get creative and take home something that will help attract local birds to your own backyard.

The Kalamazoo Conservation District is providing scrap tire collections at no cost to Kalamazoo County residents. Only unpainted passenger tires with rims removed will be collected and no businesses are allowed to participate. - We ask that residents limit their drop-off to 10 tires to allow us to maximize the amount of individuals we are able to service.

Freshwater Foodways

The 2025 Kalamazoo Foodways Symposium will take place on Friday, April 4, at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and Saturday, April 5, at the Marilyn J. Schlack Culinary and Allied Health Building.The event is meant to inspire and empower the greater Kalamazoo community to honor its agricultural history and heritage cuisines, celebrate good food, and work together to build a just and healthy future for all. This year, we will be exploring foodways through the lens of water and all the ways in which water gives us life and sustains us. Join us for a weekend of exploration, learning and fun.
